Ashleys dang photogenic cat "Drama" made her second appearance in the studio to drink a little beer and be the poster kitty for "Pints for Pets" a Brew-Fest of sorts which is going to be held at Blair County Ball Park. May 17th from 4 pm to 8 pm. The cost of admission is $30 with all proceeds going to the Central PA Humane Society. WEE.

New Pictures of the BABY

Here are a few new photos of my niece. She is such a cute little fetus! I can't wait for her to get here so we can kiss her and snuggle her and spoil her to pieces.Not to mention everyone thinks she looks like her favorite aunt...which would be...ME! HAHA!Little Baby Conrad is such a little beauty!

I shot a really neat assignment today for the Lifestyles page.  It goes with a story on growing gardens this summer and the foods you can cook by what you grow in your garden.  Ashley thought of this cute little way to illustrate this concept by getting a pot...putting a plant in it...and putting it on the stove.  Then...to prove that I AM a creative genius. We put the seeds in the background in the dirt like you would when you plant a garden. To mark the plants you have.  So here are two photos from that.  I'm excited to see the final layout. I'm sure it's going to be great.

While driving around I saw these two tents...they were in different places and I went up the one...the lady told me not to take her photo...but to go to the other one and take her sisters photo.  So I went there and the lady there was putting out flower baskets.

Patty Watt of Patty's Flower Sales of Altoona restocks her flower.  She is out until the Monday after Mother's Day selling flowers.

Day Three.

Day Three at the Mirror.  I drove around so much today. I was quite proud of myself for getting to know the city a little.  I had to call AJ and brag.

I was at Penn State Altoona for the first time today and i found Heather Smith, Freshman, Elementary Ed Major studying for her finals in the warm sun. 

Monday's Spotlight is going to be on the Clair family overcoming adversity.  Tammy lost her husband and her son was in a vehicle accident which left him paralyzed all in a four week period.  Tammy and Tony are here looking over some papers.  They were so much fun together. We laughed so much.  Tony is such a jokester.  He wanted me to get a photo of him running his mom over. We even made up a little signal so I knew when to shoot it. HA. They were great for having so much happen in their lives they really did have such good spirits.

  This is Kyle Elbin, from Bedford,  He was at a Bike Shop in the city called "Pedal Power"  Kyle is actually going to IUP for business education and he got this bike so he could ride from his apartment to campus and save money on gas and parking.  Hey Gazette Folks! Feature Idea: Kyle riding his bike to class!  This is for our "Pain at the Pump Series" that focuses on bikes as an alternate form of transportation.

Frolfing

My first frolfing experience was today at the College Lodge Frisbee Golf (frolf) tournament. My friend Mo from work was frolfing with his friends Austin and Sam. Today was Mo's first tournament in frisbee golf ever and he got 13th place out of 30 frolfers. I was so impressed. I went up for the final round thinking I would just shoot a few...but I ended up staying for 3 hours. Gosh the hills were a killer...but like mo said...if you walked those hills everyday you'd be able to bounce a quarter off your bum...whatever that means!!! Anyway, it was so much fun and the people were so nice. Next time I just have to remember flip flops are not proper foot attire for hiking in the woods.

First two days the Mirror

Here are some shots from my first few days at the Mirror I went to a Cow Farm today. Vale Wood Farm in Loretto. First grade students from Logan Elementary School went through "From moo to You" a program that teaches them how milk goes from the cow to the store. They got to see a honeycomb, how to make icecream with two plastic bags, milk, sugar, ice and rock salt. How the milk is transferred from the cow to the carton they even learned where a cow slept and got to see a "cow salad". Which is the food a cow eats. It was so educational but I don't even think the kids though of it that way. I think they just thought of it as fun. I know I had a blast!

Finally, this photo was on A-1 my second day! May 1 was national day of prayer. We went to the courthouse in Hollidaysburg for this event. However, the threatening skies pushed it into the First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg. This lady was too cute. When I asked her name...she told me that and everything else I could have ever wanted to know about her. At anyrate, I'm still trying to get used to the system there. So sorry about the sketchyness of this blog. They use MAC's and I've never used them. The awesome thing is that we have a photo tech there. So we don't photoshop anything. We just do a rough edit. No toneing or anything. So far....the verdict is that I really like it. The people there are super nice and really helpful. I just need to learn the city and the surrounding areas. Because our coverage area is about triple the size of The Gazette. But I do already miss my Gazette peeps!

I go back to the Mirror on Monday. Thank GOD for GPS! Until then...
