Yesterday and Today

Happy last day of MAY!
Yesterday I shot my first of two proms in two days. Altoona Area High School. I also went to a place called New Paris to shoot at a cute little orchard called "Boyer Orchards" They grow apples, peaches and pears. (oh my!) At any rate they are getting a much needed grant from the government to help with research and development of their speciality crops.Today I went to a concert to benefit the proposed skate park to be built in Altoona. I shot two bands...the first was called "Fed Up" and the second was called "Black River Circus". Both were cool in different ways.

Buccaneer Bunnies

Anthony Stewart, Grounds Keeper at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center puts up flags in honor of Flag day which is on Saturday.
I went to Tyrone today to take some shots of a woman who is Vice President of Compliance and Security. She is Vice President at a pretty slick operation called Reclamere. Angie Keating was featured in a book by Senator Rob Wonderling featuring small businesses working together for a a modern economy. Here is the photo of Angie that I took with a bunch of hard drives. Finally, I went to Myers Elementary School where Illustrator John Manders, who has illustrated the pictures for numerous books, came draw a picture of Henry the bunny from Henry the Buccaneer Bunny for the kindergartners and the second graders. They were so into his drawing. They all dressed up like bunnies or like pirates. Or Pirate bunnies. It was great! Here are two photos from the time I spent there.I'm at the Mirror tomorrow and Sunday, then I'm off until I go to Shippensburg Thursday-Saturday for PIAA State Track.
A perk of my week is I'm getting back on the ambulance on Monday! Thank God...I need some familiarity back in my life.

Until tomorrow...

The chicks hatched TODAY!

The chicks in Miss Saylors 3rd grade class at Williamsburg Elementary School hatched today!
I got to see a chicken hatch for the first time today...it was totally amazing. The little thing just broke it's way out. It took forever though. The kids were so exciting and kept cheering it on.
Miss Saylor said...You were only allowed to touch the chicks if you're willing to get pooped on!
This was in the cemetery on the way to Williamsburg I had to stop and take a shot.
Until Tomorrow...

05.13.08 Happy Birthday DAD (Chewchy-Bear)

Yesterday I went to a fishing fundraiser called "On the Fly" I pulled this gem out of the swampy abyss.  There were about 30 teams of 4 fishermen on each team.  The event raised upwards of $75,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Doug Smith, of Bellfonte, fishing for Team Restek

The Following was shot today...
This is Mayor Wayne Hippo of Altoona, this photo is for a story on the "Gateway Project" which helps to renovate houses and make Altoona a more beautiful place.  The house in the background was helped last year...however...funding has been cut so their are people in the community on a waiting list who are in jeopardy of not getting the help they need.  Check out the Altoona Mirror tomorrow for more details.

Finally, I was driving around today and saw this little boy blowing bubbles outside his grandmas house.  He was a little shy at first BUT THEN, he wanted to blow GIANT bubbles. I think he pretty much succeeded.

Happy Birthday to my C-Bear(my dad).  I won't say how old he is but he is half of a century today!

until tomorrow folks!

New Pictures of the BABY

Here are a few new photos of my niece. She is such a cute little fetus! I can't wait for her to get here so we can kiss her and snuggle her and spoil her to pieces. Not to mention everyone thinks she looks like her favorite aunt...which would be...ME! HAHA!Little Baby Conrad is such a little beauty!

plants in pots

I shot a really neat assignment today for the Lifestyles page.  It goes with a story on growing gardens this summer and the foods you can cook by what you grow in your garden.  Ashley thought of this cute little way to illustrate this concept by getting a pot...putting a plant in it...and putting it on the stove.  Then...to prove that I AM a creative genius. We put the seeds in the background in the dirt like you would when you plant a garden. To mark the plants you have.  So here are two photos from that.  I'm excited to see the final layout. I'm sure it's going to be great.
While driving around I saw these two tents...they were in different places and I went up the one...the lady told me not to take her photo...but to go to the other one and take her sisters photo.  So I went there and the lady there was putting out flower baskets.

Patty Watt of Patty's Flower Sales of Altoona restocks her flower.  She is out until the Monday after Mother's Day selling flowers.

Until tomorrow...
